CORONA PHOTO COMPETITION NO.8
Rules of the Competition
The theme of this competition is “symmetry”.

Closing time Thursday, 16 April, 18h00.
My interpredation of the subject. Its open to your interpredation, it must have symmetry in the picture. Wikipedia tells me the following: In art, symmetry is often used as an aesthetic element. It is often used, to mean a kind of balance in which the corresponding parts are not necessarily alike but only similar. There you have it, do your thing.
Judging will be done by Mike Tarmey

General comment from Mike.
I was more than happy to be asked to judge this competition. The comments I have made are intended to be helpful. Judging photographs is initially about impact and positioning the key elements of a photo to add to that impact. Triangular compositions work very well with symmetry. I like the way you put on your thinking caps and the variety shown in these shot. All of them are good and I hope my comments will be helpful.

1st prize
author: Jenny
judges comments: A strong composition, with a well-placed focal point.
2nd prize
author: Oliver
judges comments: Well set up. Angling the knives a little, towards the middle would strengthen the image.
3rd prize
author: Hester-Louise
judges comments: Nicely centred, a good triangular competition
and following, the other pictures
author: Roger
judges comments: Well set up. Angling the knives a little, towards the middle would strengthen the image.
author: Eric
judges comments: A strong composition; a good triangle, with the centre point in the right place.
author: Frans
judges comments: Simplicity works here, the symmetry is near perfect.
author: Judith
judges comments: An imaginative shot. I would like to have seen the elements rotated more to the left.
author: Dave
judges comments: I like the idea here. Perhaps a square format with wider spacing between the large balls and angling the racket handles inwards would make this image.
author: Horst
judges comments: The cat adds a point of interest. Cropping out the right hand bar would improve symmetry.
author: Almè
judges comments: A great Idea, with a strong point of interest but not quite symmetrical.
author: Michael
judges comments: Clever and simple. I would have liked the nuts angled upwards to form a triangle.
author: Tania
judges comments: A very good shot of the lippid, but not truly symmetrical.
author: Christopher
judges comments: I like the fence post spike end. The background does not help the image. A lower viewpoint with the post projecting above the gable and roof line would have made it a contender.
author: Jörg
judges comments: Another good idea. A slight change in the camera position would have given central symmetry.
